Rossini Opera Festival

Opera lovers from all over the world – audiences like no other in their spirit, motivation, and participation – are drawn to Pesaro by a common passion for Rossini.

The  Rossini Opera Festival is the only international music festival entirely dedicated to Gioacchino Rossini, who designated Pesaro, the town of his birth, the sole heir to his legacy when he died in 1868.

Founded in 1980, the Rossini Opera Festival revives, studies, and stages the composer’s musical legacy. In addition to presenting Rossini’s well-known operas, the Festival has revived his lesser known works in editions endorsed by the Fondaztione Rossini.

The festival’s many components: scholarship, instruction and training of artists, and performances that involve all of the fine arts, make it a unique organization.
